Hemicryptophyte. Herbaceous perennial. Rhizomatous, rhizome far-creeping.  

Flowering period: 

July and August. 

Habitats: 

Bog & wet heath, favouring bare peat. Lowland. 

Threats:

Loss of preferred habitat through peatland drainage and/or cessation/reduction in grazing, allowing Salix scrub to colonise.
