Hemicryptophyte. Herbaceous perennial. Rhizomatous, rhizome short-creeping.
Flowering period:
June and July.
Habitats:
Flushes within montane blanket bog. Upland sphagnum bogs. Wet level moorland. Clearings in swampy woods.
Threats:
Habitat loss and fragmentation through peat cutting, peatland drainage, encroachment of scrub and woodland, coniferous afforestation, and burning of bog vegetation. Overgrazing by livestock.
